My name is Jason.

Im thinking of getting a camper to get out and about with my girlfriend,im being made redundant in the next week or 2 so though it would be nice to do some sight seeing around the u.k.

Iv been told a friend of a friend is selling a T25 van it's a 1987 and it has 12 month but needs updating inside,i've not seen it or inside it but i have a picture of the outside,can i ask what should i be on the look out for ie rust,engine or faults which could crop up ??

Also what kind of money to insure and if i was to buy it and update inside where's the best palce to buy bits ??

Door release mechanism. The interior passenger door will not open (RHD 72) and the cam block that pulls the release rod to the latch has broken. The end of the cam has broken off. It seems it is not the sort of part that the aftermarket sites cater for.

Any ideas anyone?

If it was hired out for a fraction of this time all your costs can be covered and some handy extra money on top.

We will handle all the marketing, finding hirers, admin and arranging insurance cover. We do not charge any fees for this service. All you need to do keep your van roadworthy, taxed, fit for hire and conduct a handover to show the hirer how everything works. We pretty much handle the rest!

You need roadside assistance, an internet connection and a printer (to print the insurance document for signature) and a lovely van & you're in business.

In the peak season you can earn from £325 to £425 per week depending on the vehicle.
And you will receive a BACS payment within 3 working days from the date of hire.

I was on my way to Glastonbury last year when inspiration struck. The previous month I had been made redundant and I decided to start up some sort of business. The problem was what?

Everyone tells me to do something that you're interested in but making money from drinking and football isn't easy. But sitting in the back of my mate's campervan on the way to the world's best festival made me realise that this was it.

So I've started up a camper van hire business and I could only do it with the help of other camper owners. Anyway, I'll leave to there for now.

Be prepared for a long-winded message!
I'm very new to this & admittedly naive in some areas of VW ownership. I recently bought a 30+ year-old van (a T2 Bay – I've wanted one for YEARS) from a guy who owns 3 other vintage VW vans.
Before purchasing my main questions to him were: 1) is it reliable? 2) I need it for business, am I going to be OK? 3) are you happy selling it to someone who is not mechanically astute? 4) are there any major issues with it?
I was happy with the responses (both in person and in email) and since owning the van for 3 weeks, I have had major problems – not only affecting my livelihood (I wanted to use the van for business), but also meaning I'm about to face a £600+ bill for work desperately needed. (I've already paid out £150).
He's now telling me it was "sold as seen", but I don't believe that's the case. His assurances were the reason I bought the van. He also told me about his "forgiving mechanic" (I know, I'm an idiot!).
I've appealed to his better nature, and he's basically told me to bugger off.
What should I do????????
