hi there ive just purchased a 1975 bay....my 1st vw and am a novice to campers but not a mechanical novice...
After the 80 mile treck home after buying the camper there was a strong petrol smell in the cab area...looking in the engine bay the air filter have been changed to a pan cake one...There are 2 metal breather pipes(i believe)that goes into a t piece..With a pipe pointing towards the air filter(not connected) looking at the haynes manual this pipe should go into the air filter system..Can any one please tell me what should happen to this pipe with a pancake air filter on there..it did smell like the smell was coming from this pipe...You can also smell slight smell from this pipe when engine is cold...
